Ep 1. Uncharted Waters

As the season 8 of Bering Sea Gold kicks off, Uncharted Waters follows the gold miners as they embark on a new season and face the challenges of finding gold in the treacherous waters of Nome, Alaska. This season, the stakes are higher than ever before with gold prices skyrocketing and new miners entering the fray.

As winter begins to loosen its grip, we find each of the mining teams striving to hit it big early in the season. Emily and her dad, Steve, along with their team struggle to get their dredge, The Eroica, up and running after difficulties and setbacks reduce their diving time, putting them behind the curve. On the other hand, the Kelly family has upgraded their mining equipment, and it seems that it has paid off for them—however, it is evident they've got massive challenges to confront too.

The largest undeveloped gold research site in the world rests offshore in Nome, and the need for a grand victory is now greater than ever before. With the amount of gold in the water increasing, everyone is determined to get their share.

As the season commences, we observe Vernon Adkison, Emily Riedel, Shawn Pomrenke, and Ken Kerr navigating the treacherous Bering Sea to stake their newest claims. Glaciers, wind, and waves are just the beginning of the concerns they'll each encounter. And, the risks of operating on the open water are always paired with mechanical breakdowns, environmental calamities, and dangerous diving conditions.

Meanwhile, Vernon Adkison, the captain of the Wild Ranger, introduces us to his latest and most enormous claim yet: a monster of a dredging operation that he intends to execute with a dredge named Aquamarine. But when a vast chunk of ice breaks and threatens the ocean-based claim, Vernon, and his crew have no choice but to abandon the site.

On another section of the Bering Sea, veteran miner Emily Riedel and her father, Steve, reverse course to deploy a new suction dredge named The Eroica. Although it is a precious upgrade to their equipment, the dredge encounters a host of difficulties upon arriving on site, and the team must work tirelessly through the night to prepare for the season ahead.

On the other hand, The Seeker crew led by Ken Kerr, has been acquiring vast tracks of land on the ocean floor and aggressively prospecting gold from it. Though their system appears to be alright, they're now back to their usual problem of facing unpredictable challenges.

Additionally, the Kelly family conflict and the previous season's holdup are still visible. The crew, including Brad Kelly, the dredge master, Andy Kelly, and others, have upgraded their equipment and are optimistic about their chances this season. They even plan to test the new machinery and acquire the first load of gold. However, tensions run high within the family as they make small progress each day, causing outbursts of frustration and infighting.

The debut of Bering Sea Gold season 8 reveals crews struggling to establish their cutting-edge gear and excavating massive clumps of gold before the precious window of time ends. However, snagging enough to guarantee a valuable return has never been so daunting. As the cold Alaska winter night sets in, the stage is set for another high-risk season of Bering Sea Gold.
