In the fifth season of Bizarre Foods America, Andrew Zimmern travels to Baja, Mexico to explore the culinary traditions of the region. In episode eight, titled "Baja, Mexico," Zimmern undertakes a fascinating journey to discover the unique and delicious dishes from the peninsula's rocky shores to its verdant mountains.

The episode starts with Zimmern in the heart of Tijuana, where he meets up with Victor the Taco King, to get a taste of the popular street food. Zimmern gets to try to some of the farm-fresh dishes, including a salad made with freshly picked tomatoes and arugula.

From there, Zimmern travels to the rugged coast of Ensenada, where he uncovers some of the best seafood the region has to offer. He meets with a fisherman who has been harvesting sea urchins for the past fifty years and gets to sample the prized delicacy. Zimmern tries sea urchin ceviche, which he describes as fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. He also gets to sample a tuna collar that is cooked over wood-fire, a dish that is popular among locals.

The following day, Zimmern joins a group of hunters who are out to catch wild antelope. The hunters employ traditional methods and use horses and hounds to track their prey. After a successful morning, they celebrate with a feast of fresh goat barbacoa, which is cooked in a hole in the ground. Zimmern describes the dish as tender and flavorful, and he is impressed by the skill and tradition that goes into making it.

The last stop on Zimmern's journey is the Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico's wine country, where he meets with winemakers who are producing some of Mexico's finest vintages. Zimmern gets to sample some of the wines, including a white wine made from the chenin blanc grape and a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, which pair perfectly with the region's cuisine.
