Joshua Warrington embarks on a journey into the heart of Iceland's coolest capital, Unofficially known as the world's northernmost metropolis. However, there's more to Reykjavik than snow and ice, Joshua is eager to explore its heated party scene and discovers that Iceland's capital city is as warm and welcoming as its legendary geothermal springs.
Joshua's first stop is to meet a friend who takes him to one of the oldest restaurants in Reykjavik, which was converted into a modern bistro which specializes in Icelandic cuisine. The tasting menu includes various traditional Icelandic dishes like fermented shark and lamb's head, and Joshua finds himself in food heaven.
Next up, Joshua heads to the famous Harpa Concert Hall - a stunning architectural masterpiece that has become the country's national icon. Here, he meets with one of Iceland's most popular musicians, who tells him about his love for the land of fire and ice and the way life in Iceland has shaped his music. Together, they take a tour around the concert hall and end up sharing a drink at one of the most creative bars in Reykjavik.
Later, Joshua joins a group of locals who invite him to one of the best hot pools in Iceland. While the pool is heated by natural geothermal energy, the surrounding landscape creates the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy the view of snow-capped mountains. Joshua has a delightful time with his new friends while sipping on the famous Icelandic beer.
The next day, Joshua heads to Iceland's largest geothermal spa, the Blue Lagoon, where curative properties of warm, mineral-rich seawater and silica mud have made it world-famous. Here he meets with a geothermal scientist studying the unique properties of the lagoon's renewable energy sources. After his learning session, Joshua dips into the warm, milky-blue water to experience the wonders of the Blue Lagoon's healing properties for himself.
Joshua's final stop on his Iceland adventure is a visit to an underground bakery where he meets a friendly baker who has dedicated his life to baking bread in natural geothermal ovens. There he tastes freshly baked rye bread and watches on as his host demonstrates how he digs his ovens out from the volcanic earth. Joshua ends his episode with a warm heart and a full belly, fully enjoying an exciting tour of Reykjavik and the City's warm fire.
From its stunning wildlife, mind-blowing landscapes, and unique cultural history, Iceland remains at the forefront of leading travel destinations every year.
