Richard starts his journey at the famed Calgary Stampede, where he gets a hands-on tutorial in steer wrestling and bull riding from some of the most experienced cowboys in the world. He then takes to the backcountry to join a cattle drive, herding and branding calves across open prairie. Along the way, Richard learns about the history of cattle ranching in Alberta and the role cowboys have played in shaping the region. To wrap up his journey, Richard spends time with the Siksika Nation, a First Nations people who have been preserving their own traditional ways of life for centuries. With performances of drumming, dancing and powwow, this episode of Born To Explore offers an immersive experience of a proud culture that has survived against the odds.
