Ep 11. The Father/Son Game

Cory is excited to participate in the upcoming father/son basketball game at school, but his excitement turns to disappointment when he learns that his father, Alan, won't be able to make it due to work obligations. Mr. Feeny notices Cory's disappointment and offers to fill in as his surrogate father for the game. Initially hesitant, Cory eventually agrees to let Mr. Feeny play with him.

Meanwhile, Eric is dealing with his own father issues as he struggles to write a paper about his dad for school. He initially paints a glowing picture of his father, but when he learns that Alan won't be able to attend the game, he becomes resentful and begins to see his father in a different light.

As the day of the game approaches, Cory becomes more nervous about playing with Mr. Feeny. He worries that his classmates will make fun of him for not having a "real" father there. However, Mr. Feeny helps him to see that he doesn't need a biological father to be a good player or to feel loved. He reminds Cory that he's always been there for him and that he cares about him deeply.

Meanwhile, Eric's resentment towards his father reaches a boiling point when he discovers that Alan is actually attending the game. He confronts his father about his absenteeism and the two have a heart-to-heart conversation about the challenges of balancing work and family. Eric eventually realizes that his father loves him and that he's still an important part of his life, even if he can't be there for every event.

At the game, Cory and Mr. Feeny surprises everyone by playing extremely well together. They win the game and gain the respect of their classmates. Eric watches from the sidelines and realizes that despite their flaws, his family is still full of love and support for one another.

The episode ends with Cory and Mr. Feeny sharing a heartwarming moment, where Cory thanks him for being there for him and Mr. Feeny tells him that he'll always be there for him, no matter what.
