Ep 2. Episode 2

As the second season of Call the Midwife continues, Episode 2 brings us deeper into the lives of our favorite midwives and the women they serve in 1950s London.

The episode opens with a young couple struggling to make ends meet as the wife's pregnancy progresses. With no money to pay for proper care, the midwives are called in to help, but they quickly discover that the young woman is suffering from pre-eclampsia. This dangerous condition requires immediate attention, but with limited resources at their disposal, the midwives must find a way to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.

Meanwhile, Nurse Lee works to improve her skills as she trains to become a midwife. Though she's already proven herself a skilled nurse, the transition to midwifery presents a new set of challenges. But with the guidance of her colleagues, Nurse Lee begins to find her footing in her new role.

Elsewhere, Sister Evangelina finds herself at odds with a new mother, whose refusal to breastfeed her infant has resulted in serious health complications. As Sister Evangelina works to convince the new mother of the benefits of breastfeeding, she must also confront her own feelings about motherhood, and the sacrifices that come with it.

As always, Call the Midwife balances personal stories with larger societal issues, and Episode 2 is no exception. This episode highlights the struggles faced by working-class families in 1950s London, as well as the importance of proper medical care for all women, regardless of their social status. It also touches on the complicated relationships between mothers and their children, and the expectations placed on women in a world that often prioritizes men.

Throughout it all, the midwives remain a beacon of hope and support for the women they serve. With their unyielding compassion and dedication to their work, they show us that even in the toughest of times, there is always room for kindness and love.
