In Call the Midwife season 2 episode 6, the midwives of Nonnatus House are faced with a range of challenging cases in the run-up to Christmas. As the festive season approaches, the nuns and nurses find themselves delivering babies in some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable, from the harsh winter weather to the dire living conditions of the East End's poorest families.

At the heart of the episode is a heart-warming storyline in which a young woman named Cynthia begins a romance with a man she meets through her work as a midwife. With limited resources and the added challenge of the mother's reluctance to seek medical attention, the nuns and nurses are pushed to the limit to help the family, battling against prejudice and societal barriers as they go.

As the episode progresses, the team of midwives must also deal with a range of other issues, from an unexpected home birth that tests their skills to the limits, to the tragic death of a patient who had been suffering from cancer.

Despite the challenges they face, however, the nurses and nuns of Nonnatus House remain committed to their patients, operating with compassion, skill and dedication in the face of adversity. As the episode draws to a close, Christmas approaches, and the midwives begin to look forward to celebrations with their families and friends, buoyed by the knowledge that they have made a real difference to the lives of those they have cared for.

Call the Midwife season 2 episode 6 is a moving and inspiring episode that showcases the strength, courage and humanity of the midwives of Nonnatus House.
