Ep 9. Christmas Special 2013: Part 1

Christmas is almost upon the residents of Poplar, and Nonnatus House is a hive of activity as everyone prepares for the festivities. Chummy is determined to make this Christmas special for her visiting mother, while Fred is hoping to cheer up a lonely old man with a visit from Santa Claus. Meanwhile, Jenny's friend, Hannah, returns from Malaya to nurse her dying mother and is inundated with work at the understaffed hospital and lack of necessary supplies. As Christmas Day approaches, Trixie is feeling increasingly anxious about her new relationship with Tom, while Sister Julienne is troubled about her own feelings towards Private Smith. Amidst the struggles and joys of Christmas, the midwives are reminded of the true meaning of the season.
