Megan O'Brien, the matriarch of the O'Brien family, is back in Chesapeake Shores after being away for many years. She moves into the family house and starts trying to reconnect with her children. Meanwhile, Trace is busy preparing for his tour and Abby is trying to balance her job and her children. In episode 6, "Georgia on My Mind," the family is thrown for a loop when they receive news that Megan's father has passed away. They all travel to Georgia for the funeral, where they meet Megan's sister, who has been estranged from the family for years. The O'Briens must come to terms with their past and their present as they navigate this difficult time together.

As the family drives to Georgia, they reminisce about their childhood and their memories of their grandfather, who they all called "Pop." Upon arriving, they learn that Pop has left them a beautiful house on the beach and some money, which causes some tension amongst the siblings. Despite their differences, they all agree to stay in Georgia for a while and help Megan clean out the house and figure out what to do with it.

While they're in Georgia, Abby struggles with leaving her children in Chesapeake Shores, as she's never been away from them for more than a few days. She confides in Trace, who comforts her and encourages her to have some fun while they're in Georgia. Meanwhile, Kevin and Bree are determined to find out why Megan's sister, Jess, has been estranged from the family for so long. They do some digging and discover that there was a falling out between Megan and Jess over their father's estate. Kevin and Bree try to get to the bottom of it, but Megan is resistant to talk about it and avoids the conversation.

Nell, the family matriarch, takes charge of the funeral arrangements and makes sure that everything goes smoothly. She also tries to help the family navigate their feelings about their grandfather's passing and their complicated relationships with each other. As they spend more time together in Georgia, the siblings start to open up to each other and work through their issues. Megan and Jess have a heart-to-heart conversation and come to a better understanding of each other's perspectives. Abby realizes that it's okay to take some time for herself and have fun, and she and Trace take advantage of the beautiful Georgia weather to do some sightseeing and go to a music festival.

The family dynamics are complicated, and not everyone gets along all the time, but they all come together in the end to celebrate their grandfather's life and each other. As they say their goodbyes to Georgia and head back to Chesapeake Shores, they're left with a new appreciation for each other and a better understanding of their family history. "Georgia on My Mind" is a touching episode that highlights the importance of family, forgiveness, and letting go of the past.
