Ep 2. Purge

In Clockwork Planet season 1 episode 2, titled "Purge," we see Naoto and Marie travel to the underground city of Tokyo that has been sealed off for years due to the pollution caused by the overwhelming use of machines. The city is controlled by a powerful man named Guillemot who has exploited the people to maintain his dictatorship, by using weaponized automatons.

Naoto and Marie are here to retrieve a special item for a client, but they soon realize that getting out of this city alive won't be an easy task. They witness the cruel and inhumane treatment of the lower-class by Guillemot's subordinates and how people's lives are expendable to keep the status quo.

They quickly find themselves in trouble and are rescued by an unexpected ally, a competent warrior named Vainney Halter. Vainney is also visiting the underground city, but for different reasons than our protagonists.

Together, they form a shaky alliance and face many dangerous challenges to get to their destination. From navigating through toxic gas clouds to avoiding the weaponized automatons, they must rely on their wit and skills to survive.

As they progress, Naoto discovers that Vainney is not just a typical warrior but has a connection to the Clockwork Planet. Vainney is an Augmented Gear and has supernatural abilities that grant her the power to control machines.

As the four of them work their way through the city, they learn about each other and their individual goals. Naoto and Marie are motivated by money, but Vainney has a more significant purpose. She is searching for a woman who holds answers to her past and why she has the extraordinary abilities she possesses.

The episode ends in an intense encounter with a powerful weaponized automaton named Jeanne D'Orc. Naoto and Vainney team up to defeat this formidable foe, and with their combined skills, they manage to win the day.

As the dust settles, they continue their journey, unsure of what lies ahead. Naoto and Marie may have gotten their hands on the item they were sent to retrieve, but their lives have forever changed, and it's only a matter of time before they realize that the world of Clockwork Planet is full of secrets and hidden agendas.
