Set in Dallas, Texas, Dallas Car Sharks is a reality television show centered around the competitive world of car flipping. The second season of the show features episode 3, Mad About a Mustang, which follows the adventures of the four car shark teams as they compete to find and flip the best cars for a profit.
As the episode opens, we are introduced to the four teams competing in this week's challenge: Ashley and her dad, JD; Martha and her husband, Thomas; Frank and his son, JD Jr.; and Morris, the lone shark. After a brief introduction to each team, the competition is set in motion with a visit to a local car show.
At the car show, each team is given a budget of $10,000 and a list of cars to find and flip within three days. The teams then race against each other to find the best cars and make the most money. The competition is fierce, with each team strategizing on how to beat the others.
Ashley and JD decide to focus on muscle cars, specifically Mustangs, as they believe they can get the most bang for their buck. Martha and Thomas, on the other hand, decide to look for classic cars, hoping to find something rare and valuable. Frank and JD Jr. go for a car that has been on their list for a while, a 1980s Porsche. Morris decides to buy a car that he knows he can flip quickly, a luxury sedan.
The teams hit the streets, scouring the city for the best deals on their chosen cars. Ashley and JD find a 1965 Mustang, but the seller is asking more than they can afford. They negotiate with the seller, trying to get a better deal. Meanwhile, Martha and Thomas strike gold when they find a 1957 Chevy Bel Air sitting in a field. They quickly put in an offer and buy the car.
Frank and JD Jr. run into some problems when they find a Porsche, but it turns out to be a bit of a lemon. They decide to pass on the car and keep looking. Morris has some luck and finds a great deal on a luxury sedan. He buys it quickly and heads back to his shop to start working on it.
Back at their shops, the teams begin the process of restoring and refurbishing their cars. Ashley and JD work on getting the Mustang into running condition, while Martha and Thomas take on the challenge of finding original parts for their Chevy Bel Air. Frank and JD Jr. decide to turn their attention to a 1989 Jaguar XJS they found, hoping it will bring in a big profit. Morris, in the meantime, spends the night working on his luxury sedan, hoping to have it ready to sell by the next day.
As the three-day challenge comes to a close, the teams head to the car auction to sell their cars. The tension is high, with each team hoping to make a big profit and take home the trophy. The Mustang, Chevy Bel Air, Porsche, Jaguar, and luxury sedan are all up for grabs.
In the end, the competition is fierce, with each team making a tidy sum of money. Some teams, however, make more than others, leaving them in better standing for future challenges. Ashley and JD's Mustang sells for a higher price than they anticipated, while Martha and Thomas's Chevy Bel Air receives some impressive bids from collectors. Frank and JD Jr.'s Jaguar XJS does well, but Morris's luxury sedan sells quickly, bringing in the most profit of the day.
