Dallas Car Sharks, presented by the Velocity channel, outlines the trials and tribulations of four individuals that attempt to flip automobiles and trucks for a living. Dallas Car Sharks starts every show with Martha, J.D., Tommy, and Ash talking about the importance of finding the next big opportunity purchase at the automobile auction. Inevitably, each points out that they are in need of a big profit due to prior mistakes, or just slow business at their car lots. Typically, an episode consists of three of the four participants purchasing a vehicle, and then the repair work that was completed in order to prepare the vehicle for sale.

At the auction, the four participants along with the rest of the general public, are shown bidding up the next available vehicle. There is always competitive bidding up of the vehicles, and in most episodes, some side banter back and forth about how one participant is better than the other. Once one wins the auction, the vehicle is brought back to their garage, where it is looked over by the mechanic. There is always more work to be done then initially throught, and the premise of the show is to see which of the four is able to attain the better profit.
