Growing up in a conservative household, 28-year-old Sarah Pisan was forbidden to interact with boys. Her parents believed that she should only be focusing on her studies and spirituality. However, things changed when Sarah moved to Las Vegas for work. She began to explore her independence and eventually met Michael Rodriguez. But their relationship was tumultuous, to say the least. It wasn’t long before they were bickering and fighting, and Sarah was forced to move out.

On July 8, 2000, Michael visited Sarah at her apartment. Previously she had agreed to give him another chance, but once they started arguing again, it became clear that it was a mistake. In a fit of rage, Michael strangled and killed Sarah, leaving her body behind in the bathroom of her apartment. It didn’t take long for police to track Michael down, and he was later sentenced to death for her murder.
