Ep 3. Pledge Week

In Difficult People season 1 episode 3, titled "Pledge Week," we see the two protagonists Julie and Billy struggle with their own insecurities and disappointments. Billy reluctantly agrees to spend time with Denise, but they quickly fall back into their old habits of bickering and belittling each other.

As the day goes on, we see Julie's audition spiral out of control as she becomes increasingly nervous. The producers are unimpressed with her performance and she ultimately doesn't get the part. This is a crushing blow for her, as she had been so invested in this opportunity.

The episode ends with Julie confiding in Billy about her disappointment, while he is still trying to process his own feelings about Denise. They both come to the realization that they need to be there for each other and rely on each other during difficult times. They vow to support one another and encourage each other, no matter what.
