Chef Robert Irvine is gearing up for another intense commitment to create a delicious meal under seemingly impossible circumstances. In episode 4 of Dinner: Impossible season 1, titled "Back in Time: Ye Ol' Dinner Impossible," Chef Robert steps back in time as he travels to a Renaissance Faire. With the help of a few skilled artisans, Chef Robert will have to create a meal on a wood-fired oven using only ingredients available during the Renaissance period.
Chef Robert starts by meeting with the artisans who will help him with the various components of his meal. He first meets the blacksmith who will be making him a medieval cooking utensil. Then, he meets the baker who will be creating a delicious bread to complement his dish. Finally, he meets with the brewer who will be supplying him with the perfect beer to wash down his meal.
After gathering all of his necessary ingredients, Chef Robert begins to prepare his dishes. With a limited time frame and limited resources, he has to be creative with his cooking techniques. He starts by making a savory soup using a combination of vegetables and spices that were used during Renaissance times. Next, he prepares a roasted meat dish, which he marinates overnight with herbs and spices. He then takes on the task of cooking his dish in the wood-fired oven using the utensil created by the blacksmith. He also prepares a side dish featuring root vegetables cooked in a medieval-style pot. And to top it off, he bakes a delicious bread using a recipe from the Renaissance period.
Just when things seem to be going smoothly, a sudden thunderstorm threatens to ruin the day. Chef Robert and his team are forced to quickly move all the cooking utensils and ingredients under shelter to avoid ruining the meal. After the storm passes, Chef Robert gets back to work, determined to pull off this impossible meal.
As the day progresses, Chef Robert works tirelessly to make sure everything is perfect for the Renaissance Faire patrons. He hustles to finish the meal before it's time to serve, using all of his skills and creativity. With time running out, he finally manages to put everything together and the end result is a feast fit for royalty.
