In "The Burrowers," the Pteranodon family meets a family of burrowing dinosaurs called Oryctodromeus, who are experts at digging tunnels underground. Buddy and his siblings learn how these burrowing dinosaurs help to build and maintain their ecosystem, as well as the various predators they have to watch out for. Meanwhile, back on the Dinosaur Train, Mr. Conductor explains how tunnels are built for trains, and the kids use what they learned from the Oryctodromeus to come up with ideas for making their own tunnels.

In "Shiny's Sea Shells," Shiny finds a beautiful collection of sea shells and wants to show them off to everyone. However, she soon learns that some of the shells she collected are still alive, and decides to return them to the ocean to keep them safe. Along the way, the Pteranodon family learns about various marine creatures and habitats, including coral reefs and kelp forests. The episode also addresses the importance of leaving nature untouched and respecting animals' homes.
