Any child who loves animals will enjoy the Nick, Jr show, "Go, Diego, Go!" The show revolves around the main character Diego, his trusty animal sidekick Baby Jaguar, and his sister Alicia. They work at an Animal Rescue Center. Viewers follow Diego's adventures in various habitats, from the jungle to the desert...even to the Arctic. Each episode starts out with a cry for help from a different animal. He and his sister use Click, a talking camera, to find where and what that animal is. Diego then grabs his rescue pack and rushes to the rescue. Children feel a part of the action on his interactive journey. Like many children's shows, "Go, Diego, Go!" encourages viewers to talk back and mimic Diego's actions. As he and Baby Jaguar go along, Diego often asks children what he should do next. Whenever they reach an obstacle or have to make a decision, Diego will turn to the camera, seemingly waiting for the viewers to shout out the correct answer. He asks for children's input on things like what item from his rescue pack will be the most useful in different situations. By the end of the show, Diego and Baby Jaguar have helped another animal. Then they thank the viewers, making kids feel responsible for the success as well. As expected from any children's show, it covers educational topics such as letters, numbers, and shapes. "Go, Diego, Go!" teaches several other topics as well. Children will learn about a new animal with each episode, as well as the habitat that animal lives in. They understand compassion for others as they help Diego rescue another creature. Children also learn different Spanish words as Diego is bilingual. Some episodes also feature conservation efforts and ways kids can help. Viewers will appreciate that the hero in the story is a child just like them.
