The Doctor and Romana find themselves on a spaceship called the Empress that is carrying a revolutionary new machine that can condense planets into tiny, manageable sizes. However, things rapidly go wrong when one of the ships transporting planets crashes into the Empress, causing a collision that allows dangerous creatures to infiltrate the ship. As the Doctor struggles to save the passengers and crew from the fast-moving monsters, he notices a sinister presence lurking behind the scenes. With the ship rapidly descending into chaos, the Doctor must use all his skills and knowledge to save everyone on board and discover the truth about the nightmare that is unfolding around them.

As the episode progresses, the Doctor and Romana come up against a host of increasingly deadly obstacles, including uncooperative crew members, vicious alien creatures, and a hidden conspiracy that threatens to bring the ship down. Despite these challenges, the Doctor remains determined to save the Empress and those aboard her, even as the true nature of the nightmare becomes more and more clear.

The tension and suspense in this episode are expertly crafted, with each scene building on the last as the Doctor and Romana race against time to solve the mystery. The action is fast-paced and thrilling, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

One of the standout features of this episode is the excellent performances by the cast. Tom Baker shines as the Doctor, bringing his trademark combination of humor, wit, and gravity to the role. Lalla Ward is also excellent as Romana, giving her character a depth and complexity that is rare in sci-fi television. The supporting cast also turn in strong performances, with each character given their own unique traits and motivations.

The special effects in this episode are also impressive, especially considering the time in which it was made. The monsters are suitably terrifying, with their snarling jaws and glowing eyes, and the scenes of the ship being ripped apart are both thrilling and unsettling.

Overall, Nightmare of Eden (2) is an excellent episode of Doctor Who that showcases the best of the series. With its expertly crafted script, top-notch performances, and thrilling action sequences, it is a must-watch for fans of the show and sci-fi enthusiasts alike.
