Ep 3. Vengeance on Varos (1)

The Doctor and his companion, Peri, find themselves on the planet Varos, a world in which the inhabitants are governed by an authoritarian regime and the crumbling economy relies on the production of a valuable mineral called zeiton-7. The TARDIS has run out of time material and the Doctor needs to acquire some more to get it moving again. He learns that zeiton-7 can actually be refined into time material and sets out to find some.
However, Varos is a dangerous place for outsiders, and the Doctor and Peri are quickly captured by the sadistic Governor, who forces them to participate in the planet's twisted entertainment industry - televised executions and torture - in order to gain access to the zeiton-7 they need. As they struggle to stay alive, the Doctor and Peri begin to uncover the dark secrets of Varos and the brutal nature of its regime.
Meanwhile, on the outer reaches of Varos, a band of rebels led by Jondar fight to overthrow the Governor and bring freedom to their people. With the help of the Doctor and Peri, they launch a daring and dangerous mission to disrupt the Governor's hold on Varos and steal the zeiton-7 they need to power their revolution.
But as the Doctor and Peri delve deeper into the corruption on Varos, they realize that their own morals and values may be put to the test. As they attempt to navigate the treacherous landscape of Varos, they must also contend with the Governor's loyal henchman, Sil, a scheming and conniving slug-like creature who will stop at nothing to maintain his own power.
In a world ruled by greed and violence, the Doctor and his companions must find a way to stay alive, defeat their enemies, and protect the innocent. But as they discover the true cost of Varos' dark secrets, they begin to question whether their interference will ultimately make things better or worse for the people of Varos.
Full of action, suspense, and social commentary, "Vengeance on Varos" is a classic Doctor Who adventure that explores the dangers of unchecked power, the importance of freedom and individuality, and the complexities of making tough ethical decisions in difficult circumstances.
