Doogie Howser, M.D. season 2 episode 12 titled "TV or Not TV" follows the life of a teenage doctor, Douglas "Doogie" Howser. In this episode, Doogie and his girlfriend Wanda are planning to have a romantic night in, watching TV and enjoying each other's company. However, Doogie's father, Dr. David Howser, decides to invite his colleagues over to watch an important medical conference on their television.
Doogie is initially disappointed that his plans have been ruined, but he soon realizes that this could be an opportunity to connect with his father and his colleagues. As they watch the conference, Doogie is impressed by the innovative ideas and cutting-edge technology being presented by the speakers. He starts to daydream about how he could apply these ideas to his own medical practice.
Meanwhile, Wanda is feeling left out and bored as she doesn't understand the technical language and medical jargon being used by the conference speakers. She tries to keep herself entertained by flipping through channels, but finds nothing to watch. As the night goes on, she becomes irritable and starts to argue with Doogie about their relationship.
Doogie realizes that he has been neglecting Wanda and decides to take a break from the conference to spend some time with her. They go for a walk and have a heart-to-heart conversation about their feelings for each other. Doogie tells Wanda that he loves her and proposes that they take their relationship to the next level. Wanda is hesitant at first, but she eventually agrees.
After their conversation, Doogie and Wanda return to the conference to find that it has ended and the guests have left. Doogie's father congratulates him on his presentation he gave over his simulation simulator idea which he presented for malpractice medicos. While Wanda and Doogie share a kiss and cuddle on the couch, Dr. David Howser gives Doogie a knowing look as he turns off the television. The episode ends with Doogie realizing that he has learned valuable lessons about love, family, and work-life balance.
