Dr. Dee Thornell, a veterinarian based in Fairbanks, Alaska, is back for season 2 of her hit Animal Planet show, Dr. Dee Alaska Vet. In episode 6, titled "Down to the Wire," Dr. Dee faces numerous challenges as she tends to her animal patients in Alaska's remote and rugged terrain.
The episode opens with Dr. Dee visiting a client who owns a buffalo ranch. One of the bulls needs treatment for an infection in his foot, and Dr. Dee is called in to help. The problem is, the bull is over 2,000 pounds and Dr. Dee will need to immobilize him in order to operate on his foot. Dr. Dee and her team must come up with a plan to safely sedate the bull and get him onto a transport truck to bring him back to her clinic.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dee also has to deal with a difficult case involving a litter of orphaned wolf pups. The pups were found by a local resident who was concerned about their well-being, and he brought them to Dr. Dee for help. Now, Dr. Dee must find a way to care for the pups and ensure they have the best chance of survival. This proves to be a challenging and emotional task, as the pups are young and require round-the-clock care.
As if these challenges weren't enough, Dr. Dee is also called in to help a client who has a horse with a serious leg injury. The horse is in so much pain that Dr. Dee worries he may need to be put down. She and her team work quickly to assess the situation and determine the best course of action.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into the daily life of Dr. Dee and her team as they deal with all kinds of animal emergencies in Alaska's harsh environment. From rescuing an eagle with a broken wing to trying to save a calf that was attacked by a wolf pack, Dr. Dee and her team face a wide range of challenges in the course of their work.
As always, Dr. Dee's love for animals shines through in everything she does. Her dedication and passion are evident as she goes to great lengths to help her animal patients and ensure they receive the best possible care.
