Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet is an animal-themed reality show that gives viewers an insight into the incredible work done by Dr. Jeff Young, a vet, and his tireless team. Season one, episode one premiered on October 3, 2015, and is named One More Chance. In this episode, we see how Dr. Jeff and his team go above and beyond to save animals in need.

The episode begins with Dr. Jeff receiving a call about a horse that has been severely beaten up by its owners. Upon arriving at the location, Dr. Jeff is shocked to see the horse's terrible condition with its wounds being left untreated for days. The animal's owners proffer a heartbreaking story, claiming that the horse was attacked by a mountain lion; however, the vets can tell that its injury condition is a result of abuse. Dr. Jeff is left to ponder what kind of person could inflict such horrible mistreatment on a defenseless animal.

After assessing the horse, Dr. Jeff and his team decide that the best course of treatment would be immediate surgery. In an emotional scene, they manage to sedate and operate on the horse. However, the procedure is complicated by the horse's blood loss, which prompts Dr. Jeff to introduce a new treatment method known as blood acupressure. This new technique helps to stabilize the horse, and after a few days of care, the team does their best to rehabilitate it.

Later on, the team is presented with a six-year-old Pug who has been experiencing breathing difficulties for several months. The Pug's elderly owner, Ollie, is extremely attached to the dog and is willing to do anything to help her. After conducting thorough tests, the vets determine that the dog has a collapsed trachea, a common condition among Pugs. Dr. Jeff and his team are faced with the difficult choice of operating on a senior dog. However, they make the decision to proceed with the operation, and with the help of modern veterinary technology, they are able to give the Pug a new lease of life.

Meanwhile, the team is faced with another emergency; a Husky with significant puncture wounds is brought in. The Husky's owner suspects that another dog attacked it, and the puncture wounds are evidence of a probable dog fight. After stabilizing the dog, Dr. Jeff and his team realize that there are much more dangerous bacteria that survive in fast-moving water and muddy soils along the Rocky Mountain front. As such, they have to put into place a unique treatment plan. Through a combination of surgeries, antibiotic treatments, and rehabilitation, the Husky steadily improves.

The episode culminates as the team is called in to assist in the treatment of a black Lab with a severe case of hip dysplasia. The dog had undergone corrective surgery and was put on bed rest. However, it had begun exhibiting signs of depression. Dr. Jeff and the team determine that the best course of action is to reunite it with its former owners in the hope that it would recover faster under familiar care. In an emotional scene at the end of the episode, the Lab is reunited with its owners, and with some in-house therapy, it makes significant strides in its recovery.

One More Chance is a gripping episode that captures the intense work done by Dr. Jeff Young and his team at Planned Pethood Plus, the progressive animal hospital where they operate. Through this episode, viewers are shown the incredible lengths that these dedicated vets go through to give animals a chance at survival. Viewers witness heartwarming reunions, emotional operations, and a behind-the-scenes look at the extreme measures that the team puts in place to save the lives of animals in need.
