Ep 7. Captain Mateo

In "Captain Mateo," the seventh episode of Elena of Avalor's third season, the spotlight is turned towards one of the show's supporting characters, as we follow the adventures of Mateo, the Royal Wizard of Avalor.

The episode begins with Elena and her friends throwing a surprise party for Mateo, to celebrate the one year anniversary of his becoming the Royal Wizard. However, amidst all the festivities, Mateo receives an urgent summons from his grandmother, who tells him that his grandfather, who was lost at sea when Mateo was a child, may still be alive.

Mateo is torn between his loyalty to Elena and his desire to find out the truth about his grandfather, but ultimately decides to leave Avalor in order to try and find him. He sets off on a ship, accompanied by Gabe, another of Elena's friends, hoping to unravel the mystery of his grandfather's fate.

As Mateo and Gabe journey out to sea, the show takes on a distinctly nautical feel, with beautiful oceanic vistas and a swashbuckling sense of adventure. The two friends navigate through storms, sea monsters, and treacherous waters, all the while learning more about each other and their own strengths and weaknesses.

Meanwhile, back in Avalor, Elena must deal with the aftermath of Mateo's departure. She feels abandoned by her friend, and worries about him constantly. Additionally, Avalor is facing its own crisis, as a group of pirates led by Captain Hector are attacking the city. With Mateo gone, Elena must rely on her own abilities and the support of her friends to fend off the pirate threat.

Ultimately, Mateo and Gabe's quest leads them to a mysterious island, where they uncover the truth about Mateo's grandfather, and about themselves. Meanwhile, back in Avalor, Elena must use all her courage and cunning to defeat Captain Hector and protect her kingdom.

"Captain Mateo" is a thrilling and action-packed episode of Elena of Avalor, that examines themes of family loyalty, friendship, and courage in the face of danger. With its vivid visuals, engaging characters, and fast-paced plot, it is sure to be a highlight of the show's third season.
