Renton Thurston, a fourteen-year-old boy living in the remote town of Bellforest, dreams of joining the mercenary group Gekkostate. His father, Adrock Thurston, who died in a military incident, was once a member of the group and Renton idolizes Holland, the group's leader. One day, a LFO (Light Finding Operation) unit crashes into Renton's house and the pilot, Eureka, asks him for help in fixing it. Renton is shocked to discover that Eureka is a member of Gekkostate and eagerly offers his assistance.
