Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar is a Japanese fantasy adventure/romantic comedy anime series directed by Masaki Kajishima and Koji Yoshikawa. The series was produced by Yoshiyuki Matsuzaki, Shoji Ohta and Yasuo Ueda and written by Hideki Shirane. The show ran for 13 episodes on Animax in Japan from March 2009 through March 2010. Each show ran between 45 and 51 minutes in length and fit into a one-hour timeslot. Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar is a spin-off series based on the original Tenchi Muyo! television series. The series follows the adventures of teenager Kenshi Masaki, who is summoned to a fantasy universe called Geminar. The plot features characters and terminology from the Photon anime series, also directed by Masaki Kajishima. Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar is a continuation of the Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki series and is preceded by Tenchi Muyo! GXP. One day, fifteen-year-old Kenshi Masaki is transported against his will from Earth to the wondrous land of Geminar. In this fantasy universe, nations battle one another using Sacred Mechanoids as weapons. Kenshi is fooled into taking part in an enemy plot to attempt to murder a princess named Lashara Earth XXVIII, who reigns in the Shtrayu Empire. In the end, Kenshi is imprisoned after he refuses to attack the young girl. After Lashara is informed of what really happened during the assassination attempt, she chooses to free Kenshi. Lashara has Kenshi dress up as one of her servants and brings him to an impenetrable stronghold called the Holy Land, which also operates as a school for up-and-coming Sacred Mechanoid pilots. Kenshi uses his unique skills, as well as his compassion and drive, to become one of the most popular students at the school. He earns the attention of several of his female peers and causes jealousy to arise amongst the boys of the school. But Kenshi is unaware that the very same group that tricked him into nearly killing Lashara is working at the school behind closed doors, and a massive war is on the brink of erupting.
