Myself, Yourself is a slice-of-life anime series that premiered on AT-X in 2007. The show is directed by Yasuo Ejima and produced by Studio Dogakobo. It is a romantic drama series that revolves around the lives of five childhood friends who reunite after being separated for several years. The series follows their lives as they navigate through their personal relationships, past traumas, and the challenges of growing up.

The protagonist of the series is Sana Hidaka, a 16-year-old high school student who moves back to his hometown after a five-year absence. Sana is accompanied by his loyal childhood friend Nanaka Yatsushiro, whom he has had a crush on since childhood. However, upon returning, he discovers that Nanaka has become distant and is now struggling with emotional trauma. This sets the stage for the series' exploration of mental health issues and the complexities of emotional relationships.

The other main characters of the series are Aoi Oribe, Shusuke Wakatsuki, and Asami Hoshino, all of whom have their own past traumas and emotional baggage. Aoi is an aspiring artist who has a difficult relationship with her family, while Shusuke is a popular high school student who is dealing with the aftermath of his parents' divorce. Asami is a cheerful and outgoing girl who hides a secret past that she does not want anyone to find out.

Throughout the series, the relationships between the characters develop and deepens, revealing secrets from the past that they have kept hidden. As the characters try to overcome their struggles and confront their personal demons, they come to realize that their past traumas are still affecting their lives and relationships.

Myself, Yourself is a character-driven series that focuses on the emotional journeys of its protagonists. The animation is visually appealing, with vibrant colors and detailed character designs. The soundtrack is also notable, with a mix of soft piano pieces and upbeat pop songs that complement the mood of the scenes.

The series deals with mature themes, such as depression, suicide, and sexual assault, which may be difficult for some viewers to watch. However, these themes are handled with sensitivity and care, making the series a thoughtful and thought-provoking exploration of mental health and emotional relationships.

Overall, Myself, Yourself is a beautifully crafted anime series that offers a poignant and intimate exploration of the complexities of growing up and dealing with emotional trauma. The series offers a relatable and authentic portrayal of its characters and their struggles, making it a must-watch for fans of romantic dramas and slice-of-life anime.
