Myself, Yourself is a comedy-based anime drama in the fictional town of Sakuranomori which is modeled after the Wakayama Prefecture of Japan. This is a unique anime that centers on the tumulus romance between the main characters. Due to his parents yearning to further their business; our young protagonist Hidaka Sana is forced to leave the only friends he has ever know.

It’s been five years since Hidaka Sana left his hometown and his close friends behind, but now he is finally coming back. While many things in the town have changed, his friends, and things are for the most largely as he remembers them, he is welcomed back with open arms. That is all except for Yatsushiro Nanaka, who greets him with a open palm to the face. Sana has no idea what he did to leave Nanaka so annoyed at him.

In the end Myself, Yourself is a romance anime that balances lack of subtleties, drama, romance,and personal conflict into a humorous drama that will give the readers food for thought.

Myself, Yourself Full Episode Guide

  • Nanaka reveals what happened to her parents and how they died. Filled with emotion, Nanaka locks herself away in her house for days. Sana uses this time to visit her and get longer moments alone with her.

  • Nanaka recalls that on the night of the fire and a memories around it.  Accepting it for what it is, it appears as if she has decided to leave it behind and get closer to Sana.

  • To help Aoi and Nanaka get over a loss, Sana offers to take the two to Kozuchi river. Aoi declines to go when she knows Sana and Nanaka need this time alone to spend quality time together.

  • With feelings low due to Syuri and Syusuke leaving, everyone decided to go to the river to take their minds away from what had just happened. However, before they headed off, Sana received an interesting phone call...

  • Sana visits Asami in the hospital, where Asami reveals an unexpected piece of information. When Syuri and Syusuke arrive to visit Asami, she acts normally, although she asks Syuri to converse privately with her. Meanwhile, in the hospital's courtyard, Sana asks Nanaka something of importance...

  • In memory of their mother, Shuri and Shusuke exchange gifts while they visit their mother's grave site on the anniversary of her death.

  • Syuri and Syusuke travel to the grave of their mother to pay their respects, each buying each other presents afterwards to cheer themselves up. When they return to school the next day, an anonymous letter revealing a terrible rumor. Although the school refuses to pursue this, Syuri and Syusuke's father angrily beats Syusuke for this. Syuri, Asami, and Sana then go to give a gift to one of the ladies from the retirement home.

  • Nanaka realizes that she was wrong in the way she acted and wants to say sorry to Sana. The problem is admitting she was wrong in front of the whole group. Aoi offers up tickets to the amusement park and Nanaka can now get close to Sana.

  • The whole gang heads to the theme park, where they meet Asami and her cousin. After they all meet up they decide to head off and watch a "Hero Show" prompting Nanaka to talk to Sana as they ride the ferris wheel.

  • Nanaka acts coldly towards Sana the following day, even after Sana tries to explain things. Sana comes upon an old mailbox that Sana and Nanaka used for private communication in their youth, and finds dozens of letters...

  • With the construction plans in motion to build a new town hall on the nature center site where Sana and everyone used to play, Shuri attempts to gather signatures to stop the project. However, the school's administration forbids Syuri to continue. Meanwhile, while still volunteering at the retirement home, Sana and Asami decide to fulfill a request by an elder lady...

  • Hinako's mother forgets her birthday and leaves on a business trip. Angered, Hinako runs away and stays with Sana while she vents her frustration.

  • Nanaka feels indebted to her uncle so she eagerly practices the dance of the Sakura blossoms for the festival at Yatsushiro Shrine to make him happy. After her performance, Nanaka gets to have some alone time with Sana to rebuild their friendship.

  • "Nanaka begins to spend increasing amounts of time practicing for the upcoming festival at the temple, where she will perform a traditional dance so the sakura will bloom that year. Unexpectedly, she ditches practice to go with Sana, Syuri, and Asami to help at a retirement home. And a the day of the festival, everyone watches Nanaka perform her dance, including Sana..."

  • When Sana was away, a rift formed between him and Nanaka. To mend the rift, the group plans a day trip to the river to reminisce. Nanaka becomes jealous when Asami is invited by Sana but soon sees they all are still friends when gifts are exchanged.

  • It is Sana's first day of school and to his surprise he is nominated as the class monitor. As he explores the school looking for a lost box, he happens across a piano and immediately remembers the song that was a gift to him many years ago.
