Watch Genshiken

Genshiken is a slice of life anime that focuses on the life and times of several college students who join up because of their common interests, as well as the trials and tribulations of being otaku. The series begins with the spineless Kanji Sasahara, who decides to join the only club that he might actually like, "Genshiken." Over the span of his four years of Shiiou University, he learns to accept himself, overcome his guilty feelings as an otaku, and not only become enthusiastic about Genshiken, but also an interim president to the club. As the series continues, attention is also placed one the female characters of Saki Kasukabe and Chika Ogiue. Saki is an anti-otaku who initially joins Genshiken in order to drive her boyfriend away from it, while Chika hates otaku but feels shame for her own otaku-like interests.

Over the series run, the Genshiken club grows in cohesion, with each member learning to see the others as close friends. Activities like group trips, conventions, and even spending time in the clubroom allows for their relationships to grow and bloom. While they may not share the exact same opinion, every member grows to respect each person's club contributions.
