Expedition Great White is a thrilling series on National Geographic, starring the late actor Paul Walker, that follows a team of marine biologists and shark experts as they embark on a dangerous journey to study and tag Great White sharks off the coast of Mexico. The show premiered in 2009 and took viewers on a breathtaking adventure through the vast open waters of the Guadalupe Island, where the team faced numerous challenges, from harsh weather conditions to unpredictable shark behavior.

The show's premise revolves around the team of scientists, led by Dr. Michael Domeier, who has spent years studying Great White sharks and their movement patterns. Their ultimate goal was to solve one of the most enduring mysteries of these enigmatic creatures - where do they mate and give birth? This question has eluded scientists for decades as Great Whites are notoriously difficult to study due to their elusive and secretive nature. To unravel this puzzle, the team conducted an unprecedented study that involved tracking and tagging Great Whites on their annual migration path.

The show's production value is impressive, with stunning aerial shots of the ocean and underwater footage that showcases the majestic beauty of Great Whites like never before. The team used state-of-the-art equipment, including custom-made cages, ADCP (acoustic Doppler current profiler) to measure ocean currents, and satellite tags, to capture and track these apex predators. The show uses a masterful blend of suspense and science to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, as the team faces danger at every turn.

Paul Walker, who starred in the Fast and Furious franchise, joined the expedition team as a regular member, bringing his passion for marine conservation and his love for the ocean to the show. Walker's infectious energy and enthusiasm for the project was evident in every episode, and he quickly became a fan favorite. Sadly, Walker passed away in a car accident in 2013, but his legacy lives on in this remarkable series.

The show isn't just about the science of shark behavior and migration patterns, but it also explores the plight of these apex predators whose populations are in decline due to overfishing and habitat loss. The team encounters several Great Whites that have been injured by fishing gear, and they use their expertise to treat them and release them back into the wild. The documentary also brings attention to the illegal shark fin trade, which has led to the decimation of shark populations worldwide. Through their research, the team hopes to educate the public about the importance of protecting these magnificent creatures before it's too late.

Expedition Great White is a captivating series that will appeal to nature lovers and science enthusiasts alike. The show's compelling narrative, stunning visuals, and brilliant storytelling make it an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe of these magnificent predators. The series is a testament to the ingenuity of scientists and filmmakers who work tirelessly to uncover the mysteries of the natural world and inspire us all to protect it.

Expedition Great White is a series that is currently running and has 3 seasons (31 episodes). The series first aired on June 11, 2010.
