In season 5 episode 2 of FantomWorks, titled "Nightmare on Hampton Blvd.," the crew is faced with another challenging restoration project. This time, they are working on a 1965 Chevy II, also known as the "Deuce," that is in desperate need of some TLC.
The owner, Matt, has had this car in his family for over 20 years but it has been sitting in his garage, deteriorating, for most of that time. When he finally decided to bring it to FantomWorks, he didn't realize just how much work it would need.
The crew quickly discovers that the car is riddled with rust and has been poorly modified in the past. They decide to strip the car down to its bare bones and start over, rebuilding it from the ground up.
One of the biggest challenges they face is trying to salvage the original sheet metal, which is incredibly thin and fragile. The crew has to delicately work around the rusted areas, often having to create custom patches and panels to replace the damaged parts.
As they start to rebuild the car, they also discover that the engine is in bad shape. They decide to swap it out for a more powerful one that will better suit Matt's needs.
Meanwhile, Will, the electrical expert, has his work cut out for him as he tries to clean up the wiring and install a new electrical system. He also has to repair the dash, which has been poorly modified in the past.
Throughout the episode, the crew faces various setbacks and challenges, such as parts not fitting properly and unexpected rust. However, they persevere and are eventually able to finish the car in time for Matt to take it for a spin.
In the end, Matt is thrilled with the final result, which is a beautiful and powerful Deuce that brings back memories of his childhood. The crew is also proud of their hard work and dedication to restoring this car to its former glory.
