Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids is a classic animated television series that premiered in 1972. The show follows a group of adolescents who band together to learn valuable life lessons and navigate the challenges of growing up in the inner city. One of the show's notable features is its use of a live-action cast member, comedian Bill Cosby, who introduces each episode and delivers educational messages to viewers. The third episode of season one is titled "The Stranger," and revolves around the kids' encounter with a new kid in town who seems to be hiding something.

The episode begins with Fat Albert and his friends Rudy, Dumb Donald, Mushmouth, and Bill playing basketball on the court. As they continue their game, a strange kid drives up on a motorcycle and interrupts them. The kid, who introduces himself as Rick, challenges Fat Albert to a one-on-one game of basketball. Despite his cocky attitude, the other kids quickly realize that Rick doesn't seem to know how to play and is just making things up as he goes.

Despite his flaws, Rick ends up winning the game, leaving Fat Albert and his friends feeling frustrated and confused. As the day goes on, Rick shows up more often, always boasting about his accomplishments and trying to impress the other kids. But the more time they spend with him, the more they begin to suspect that there's more to his story.

One day, while chatting with Rick, the kids overhear an argument between him and a man named Big John. Rick is clearly afraid of Big John and begs the kids not to tell anyone about him. The kids are concerned for Rick's safety and worried that he might be in trouble, but Rick refuses to give them any more information.

With their suspicions aroused, Fat Albert and his friends decide to do some investigating of their own. They follow Rick to an abandoned warehouse, where they see him talking to Big John. When Big John spots the kids, he sends his thugs after them, forcing the kids to flee and hide.

With the help of the police, the kids are able to escape the thugs and confront Big John about his involvement with Rick. Big John reveals that Rick is actually his son, and that he's been in hiding because of a scheme to cheat an insurance company. Rick had been acting like he didn't know how to play basketball because he wanted to lie low and avoid drawing attention to himself.

In the end, the kids are able to convince Rick to turn himself and his father in to the authorities. The episode concludes with Fat Albert delivering a message about the importance of honesty and integrity, and the kids reflecting on the value of looking past appearances to see the whole picture.

Overall, "The Stranger" is a compelling and engaging episode that teaches important lessons about trust, loyalty, and doing the right thing. Through the kids' interactions with Rick and their eventual discovery of the truth, viewers are reminded about the importance of standing up for what's right, even when it's difficult or scary. The episode also showcases the strong bond between Fat Albert and his friends, as they work together to protect one of their own and make a positive difference in their community.
