This four part mini series is a lavish production based on the life of former spy and James Bond author Ian Fleming. The series intertwines the many myths that have sprung up about the mysterious life of Fleming and the actual events that are known to have taken place during his life as a military officer and spy during World War II and his post war life as a the writer of the James Bond novels. The series begins with Fleming embarking on the writing of Casino Royale with his partner Ann O'Neill at their home in the Caribbean. Fleming is then shown at the outbreak of World War II as a man enjoying his life as a playboy and searching for a role within his personal and professional life. Fleming embarks on a series of affairs, before finding Ann as a married woman and falling in love with her. As the war moves forward, Fleming finds his way to the intelligence department of the Royal Navy and embarks on a career as a spy. Throughout the series, Ian Fleming is depicted as a man struggling with authority and battling with feelings of inadequacy towards his more successful older brother.
