Forged in Fire: Cutting Deeper Season 2 Episode 17 Champions Night

Forged in Fire: Cutting Deeper is a thrilling reality series focused on the art of bladesmithing where master bladesmiths battle it out to forge and create some of the most iconic and deadliest swords in history. In season 2 episode 17, titled "Champions Night," the competition heats up as some of the past winning bladesmiths return for a chance to compete against one another and prove who's the best of the best.

Hosted by Wil Willis, the show starts with four veteran bladesmiths who have already won a competition in a previous episode. They're tasked with forging a fully functional and sharp blade that will then be tested by the judges. The blade needs to be durable and able to withstand various tests such as slicing through a rope and piercing a pig carcass. After the initial tests, two bladesmiths are eliminated and two advance to the next round.

In round two, the remaining bladesmiths are given an additional 3 hours to put a handle on their blades. This means they'll be grinding the metal down, shaping a handle out of wood or another material, and carefully attaching it to the blade. The handle needs to fit comfortably in the hand and provide a secure grip for the wielder.

Once again the blades are tested, but this time they'll need to cut through a coconut filled with water, which is impressive as it requires precision and balance. The judges are only looking for the sharpest and most durable blades, and one more bladesmith is eliminated.

In the final round, the last two remaining bladesmiths are tasked with forging one of the four most iconic weapons in history- the Viking sword, the Bowie knife, the Khopesh or the Cutlass. The bladesmiths will have five days to complete this round, which is a longer time frame than previous rounds. During the five days, the bladesmiths must create an accurate replica of the weapon they have chosen, making sure it's historically accurate and true to the original weapon.

On the final day of the competition, the bladesmiths present their finished weapons to the judges, Chris, J, and brian, who inspect them in detail and test them out. The weapons will undergo three tests; first, it will be tested by repeatedly slicing through bamboo to gauge its durability. Second, it will be tested for accuracy, by slicing through various types of rope, showing the precision of the blade's edge. Lastly, the weapon will be tested for lethal power on a ballistic dummy, a simulation game in which the accuracy and strength of the blade is tested practically.

Once the tests are complete, the judges will make their final decisions, ultimately deciding who will be crowned the champion of Champions Night. The episode is filled with tense moments, unexpected twists, and impressive craftsmanship as the bladesmiths put their skills to the test and compete for the ultimate prize.
