Four in a Bed season 6 episode 2 takes us to Grassington Lodge, a luxurious bed and breakfast nestled in the heart of the North Yorkshire Dales. The proprietors, Caroline and Phil, greet their guests with a warm welcome and show them around their stunning property.
The first to arrive are young couple Rachel and Tom, who run a hostel in Newcastle. They are impressed by the beauty of the area and the modern decor of their room. They discover a few quirky features, such as the egg-shaped bathtub, but overall enjoy their stay.
Next to arrive are the father and daughter team of J and Laura, who run a boutique hotel in Harrogate. They appreciate the attention to detail in the decor and the luxurious feel of the room, but are not sure if it's exactly their style. J is particularly impressed by the quality of the breakfast and makes a few notes for his own establishment.
Third to arrive are the married couple of Simon and Lorraine, who run a bed and breakfast in Scarborough. They are charmed by the hosts and the homely atmosphere of Grassington Lodge. They appreciate the little touches, such as homemade biscuits in the room and a selection of teas.
Finally, the owners of Aysgarth Falls Hotel, Jane and Chrissie, make their entrance. They are proud of their own establishment and are curious to see how Grassington Lodge measures up. They find the decor a little too modern for their liking, but appreciate the quality of the furnishings.
Throughout the episode, we see the guests exploring the surrounding area, taking part in activities such as hiking and caving. They also enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by Caroline and Phil, who are both accomplished chefs.
As the group come together for the feedback session, tensions are high. Rachel and Tom express their disappointment at the cleanliness of the room, whilst J and Laura comment on the lack of storage space. Simon and Lorraine praise the personal touches, but note that the breakfast could have been warmer. Finally, Jane and Chrissie offer some constructive criticism on the decor and layout of the property.
In the end, it's the attention to detail that wins over the guests, and Grassington Lodge comes out on top with an average score of 8.8 out of 10. Caroline and Phil are thrilled and tearful at the result, and the guests all leave on good terms, having made new friends and connections in the hospitality industry.
