Tohru Honda's life has been a rollercoaster ride since she started living with the Soma family. While she has discovered the dark secrets of the family's cursed separation, she has also found herself forming close bonds with the members, especially Kyo and Yuki.

In episode 6 of season 2 of Fruits Basket, titled "I'm So Sorry!", the storyline takes an emotional turn as Tohru gets to know more about Kyo's past. The episode begins with Yuki and Kyo's usual bickering, but Tohru is quick to stop them from fighting. As they all sit down for breakfast, they realize that Kyo has left without finishing his meal. When they find him outside, Kyo is visibly upset and agitated.

Tohru becomes increasingly worried about Kyo's behavior, and she eventually confronts him about what's bothering him. Kyo tells her that his relationship with his mother has been on the rocks for a while. He shares that his mother has never accepted him and has even gone as far as to blame him for his father's death.

The episode takes a flashback to Kyo's childhood, where he recalls his mother's harsh words and demands to know why he wasn't born as a normal child like the rest. Kyo's mother's resentment towards him has always been present, and Kyo has had to bear the weight of her dislike. However, despite everything, he still yearns for her approval and love.

As Tohru listens to Kyo's story, she realizes that he has never received the love and affection he deserved. She tries to comfort him by saying that he didn't do anything wrong, and that his mother's actions aren't his fault. Kyo, on the other hand, insists that he's the one to blame for everything. He tells her that he's sorry - sorry for being a useless child and sorry for the burden he's put on the Soma family.

Tohru tries to convince Kyo that he's not the one to blame, but he remains stubborn and lost in his thoughts. The situation worsens when Kyo's mother suddenly appears and confronts him. Kyo's mother speaks harshly to him, blaming him for everything that's gone wrong in her life. Kyo remains silent, not wanting to provoke her even more.

As the conversation between Kyo and his mother goes on, Tohru is increasingly worried about Kyo's emotional and mental well-being. She senses that Kyo is breaking down, and she's desperate to intervene. When Kyo's mother accuses him of not understanding how much she's suffered because of him, Tohru steps in. She tells her that she doesn't have the right to blame Kyo for everything and that he deserves the love and care that she never gave him.

In the end, Tohru's words bring Kyo and his mother to a breakthrough in their relationship. They both open up to each other and apologize for the way they've treated each other. Kyo's mother acknowledges her mistakes and shows Kyo the love and compassion he's always craved. The moment is a cathartic release for Kyo, and he finally begins to feel like he's part of a loving family.

"I'm So Sorry!" is an emotionally charged episode of Fruits Basket that showcases the power of forgiveness and the importance of family. Tohru's empathetic and loving nature shines through as she helps Kyo and his mother heal their strained relationship. The episode is a reminder that everyone deserves to be loved and that sometimes, all it takes is a little empathy and understanding to break down the barriers that prevent us from connecting with one another.
