A professor of archaeology is found brutally murdered at a dig site outside Grantchester. Alphy and Geordie soon realize that there was more to the professor than met the eye, as they uncover a tangled web of deceit and betrayal in his wake. Meanwhile, still reeling from the bishop's news, Alphy looks for a sign from God about what to do next.
