Ep 3. Everybody's Crying Mercy

Amelia gets a call from Seattle Presbyterian Hospital in regards to a patient that needs her assistance with their surgery. She is tasked with repairing the patient's spinal cord, which poses a difficult challenge due to the patient's pre-existing condition. As she begins the surgery, Amelia faces complications that could potentially cost the patient their life. She must rely on her expertise and quick thinking to resolve the issue and ensure the patient's safety.

Meanwhile, Meredith struggles with the idea of starting a clinical trial for Alzheimer's disease with Dr. Shepherd. After witnessing the effects of the disease first-hand with her mother, Meredith is hesitant to participate in the trial. However, Dr. Shepherd's passion for finding a cure and his persistence in convincing her to join the trial ultimately persuades Meredith to take the leap.

Elsewhere, the doctors are tasked with treating a young boy who has contracted a rare and deadly virus. As they work tirelessly to save his life, tensions rise between Dr. Bailey and Dr. Webber as they clash over the best course of treatment for the boy. The disagreement leads to a heated confrontation between the two veteran doctors, forcing them to reexamine their professional and personal relationships.

Additionally, Jackson and April find themselves at odds when Jackson's mother unexpectedly arrives at the hospital. The arrival of Jackson's mother causes him to confront his troubled past and challenges his relationship with April. As the two try to navigate their personal differences, they must also put them aside to provide the best possible care for their patient.

Throughout the episode, emotions run high as the doctors face difficult situations both in their personal and professional lives. With patients' lives on the line, the doctors are constantly pushed to their limits, forcing them to make tough decisions and confront their own inner demons.
