Gunsmoke Season 4 Episode 71 Ep 71 - Robber Bridegroom

  • January 1, 1958

Marshal Dillon and his deputies are on the lookout for a bandit known as the "Robber Bridegroom" who has been terrorizing travelers and stagecoaches on their way to Dodge City. When a stagecoach carrying two young women, Maud and her cousin Roxie, arrives in town, the sheriff notices that they have been robbed and decides to investigate. Meanwhile, Maud's father sends his son, Jeff, to find the girls and bring them back home.

As the investigation continues, the sheriff discovers that the "Robber Bridegroom" is actually a group of bandits led by a man named Warren Tyree. The men have been kidnapping brides on their wedding day and stealing their dowries, which they use to fund their criminal activities. When Tyree sets his sights on Roxie, Jeff realizes that he may be the only one who can save her.

As Jeff sets out to rescue Roxie, he meets a stranger on the road who offers to help him. The stranger is actually a former outlaw named Wes Cargill, who has reformed and is now posing as a preacher. Together, Jeff and Wes try to track down Tyree and his gang and stop them from carrying out their latest robbery.

As the two men get closer to the gang's hideout, they realize that they are outnumbered and outgunned. Jeff is captured by Tyree's men and taken prisoner, while Wes is left to fend for himself in the wilderness. But Wes isn't ready to give up yet. With a little help from a friend, he manages to rescue Jeff and lead a posse of men to capture Tyree and his gang.

In the end, justice is served and the people of Dodge City can rest easy knowing that the "Robber Bridegroom" is behind bars. The girls are reunited with their families and Wes decides to stay in town and continue his work as a preacher. As for Jeff, he has learned a valuable lesson about the importance of courage and standing up for what is right.
