In Gunsmoke season 5 episode 2, titled "Kitty's Injury," the beloved saloon owner, Kitty, gets hurt during a stagecoach robbery. As the episode opens, Kitty is accompanying a group of people on a stagecoach ride to Dodge City. When the stagecoach is robbed, Kitty is shot in the arm by one of the bandits. The group manages to escape, but Kitty is badly injured and needs medical attention.

Matt Dillon, the town marshal, is notified about the robbery and rushes to the scene. When he sees that Kitty has been hurt, he takes charge of the situation and orders a doctor to treat her immediately. Matt knows that Kitty is tough, but he is also aware that she is in a fragile state and needs special care.

As Kitty is being treated, Matt and the other residents of Dodge City try to figure out who the bandits are and why they robbed the stagecoach. They soon discover that the robbery was orchestrated by a gang of outlaws who have been causing trouble in the area for some time. The gang is led by a notorious criminal named Hank Springer. Matt knows that he needs to capture Springer and his men before they cause any more harm.

While Kitty is recovering from her injury, she starts to have nightmares about the incident. She is afraid that the bandits will come after her again and that she will never be safe. Matt tries to reassure her, but he knows that Kitty's fears are well-founded. He vows to do everything in his power to protect her and to bring the outlaws to justice.

As Matt and his companions begin their search for the gang, they encounter a number of obstacles and setbacks. Springer and his men are clever and elusive, and they seem to have a knack for staying one step ahead of the law. Despite Matt's expert tracking skills and his knowledge of the local terrain, the gang continues to evade capture.

Meanwhile, Kitty's condition continues to improve, but she is still weak and vulnerable. She appreciates the support and kindness of the people of Dodge City, but she is also restless and anxious. She wants to help Matt bring the outlaws to justice, but she knows that she is not strong enough yet to join in the fight.

The tension builds as Matt and his men close in on Springer and his gang. In a thrilling showdown, the two sides face off in a battle for justice and survival. As the dust settles, Matt emerges victorious, but not without cost. The battle takes its toll on him, both physically and emotionally, and he realizes that the fight against lawlessness is never truly over.

In the end, Kitty recovers from her injury, but she is forever changed by the experience. She realizes that life is precious and that every moment should be cherished. She also understands the true value of friendship and community, and she knows that she is loved and respected by the people of Dodge City. As Kitty and the rest of the town begin to rebuild after the trauma of the robbery, they do so with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
