She is told that every Haibane has a job and that she will need to find hers soon, but for now, she will be staying at the Old Home along with several other Haibane.

She and Reki venture outside to get a better view, but they are stopped by a pair of guards who inform them that it is strictly forbidden to approach the walls. As Rakka begins to settle into her new home, she experiences a series of strange dreams. In one, she is falling from the sky and crashes into a massive white egg. In another, she is a small child in a dark room, with a single beam of light shining down on her from above. These dreams leave her feeling uneasy and unsure of what they mean.

As Rakka begins to explore her new surroundings more, she meets several other Haibane who all seem to have their own unique personalities and quirks. There is Hikari, a cheerful young girl who loves to cook, and Kana, a quiet and reserved Haibane who spends most of her time reading. There is also Nemu, the eldest Haibane, who serves as the caretaker of Old Home and seems to have a deep understanding of the world they live in.

The episode ends with Rakka discovering an old diary hidden away in her room, filled with cryptic messages and warnings about the world outside the town's walls. As she tries to make sense of the diary's contents, she begins to realize that there is much more to this world than she ever imagined.

Overall, the first episode of Haibane Renmei is a stunning introduction to a world full of mystery and intrigue. The animation is breathtaking, and the characters are all unique and well-developed from the outset.
