Ep 4. Do or Die

Jack and Dani Raney are ready to test their skills on the Raney Ranch in the fourth episode of Homestead Rescue: Raney Ranch season 1, entitled Do or Die. The couple, who hopes to turn the 40-acre site into a thriving homestead, face a multitude of challenges.

First, the crew must deal with a busted waterline. As they work to dig up the old conduit and replace it, they discover a much worse problem. The water pipe was installed by a previous owner, and it was only buried a few inches underground. With winter right around the corner, the team knows they must remediate the situation quickly to prevent the pipe from freezing and ending up with no water supply.

Next up, is a rusty, non-functional water tower that stands at over 100-feet high. Jack wants to renovate it so that the Raneys can have access to a gravity-fed water supply without having to use an electric pump, which can be unreliable in a power outage. However, the tower poses a significant safety risk. Climbing it puts the team in a precarious position, and not to mention, it is swarming with bees.

To top it off, Jack and Dani's generator is on its last legs. If it stops working, there will be no power for the homestead, and they will have to rely on candles and flashlights for lighting. The generator problem notwithstanding, the Raneys need to prepare for the winter and make sure the homestead is ready for the cold season.

Amid intense weather conditions and injuries, the Raney family pushes forward with their homesteading dreams. With each challenge, they learn more about their limits and the hard work it takes to live off the grid. Will they succeed, or will they succumb to the harsh conditions?
