"The Horrible Histories episode 2 of season 1" is a historical comedy sketch show that highlights significant moments throughout history from different time periods. Each episode focuses on a specific time period, and this episode was primarily about the Roman Empire.

The episode starts with a feature on Julius Caesar, who is famous for his leadership qualities and far-reaching conquests. The episode shares how he became one of Rome's most successful generals and then the Republic's first-ever dictator. This portion of the episode features scenes of Roman life at the time and shows what life in the Rome was like during this period.

Following the feature on Julius Caesar is the comedic segment called the 'Roman Gods.' In this portion of the show, the Horrible Histories team shares a humorous take on the deities that the ancient Romans worshipped. The characters portrayed in this sketch include Saturn, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. The acting in this part of the episode is hilarious, and it is a pleasure to watch.

The show delves deeper into the Roman Empire by chronicling one of the most gruesome events in Roman history, where the Roman Emperor Commodus, along with his family, killed thousands of wild animals in the arena for a day. This event was called The Beast of Rome. The episode takes a satirical view on this tragic event.

Next comes a surreal and epic battle segment displaying how powerful the Roman Empire was during the ancient period. The sketch recreates a scene where the Roman army invaded Britain and introduces one of the most excellent commanders in history, Boudica. The segment presents how Queen Boudica fought against the Romans to keep her country free and fight against injustice.

The episode then moves on to the "Stupid Deaths" section, the funniest part of the entire series. In this segment, the Horrible Histories team shares silly and absurd stories of how famous historical figures have died over the years. In this episode, the show features three new stories, including how the Father of Chemistry, Paracelsus, died - he believed eating gold would help him live longer.

The last segment of the show focuses on the education system during ancient Rome. It reveals amusing yet horrifying facts about how parents back then trained their children. Here, the episode introduces the "Drill Sergeant" – an antic Roman educator who is strict and not remotely sympathetic toward his pupils. His abusive treatment towards his students is hilarious, but more importantly highlights the harsh conditions students were put through back then.

Overall, Horrible Histories episode two of season one is an incredibly entertaining and informative episode. The show is not afraid to be silly and lighthearted while still presenting the facts in an easily digestible format. The acting is fantastic throughout the episode, and the humor is not forced. It is a must-see for anyone that wants to learn more about the Roman Empire's history but also wants a few laughs along the way.
