In season 1 episode 12 of Inspector Rex (English subtitled), titled "The Old Lady Murders," the team is investigating a series of murders of elderly women in Vienna. As Inspector Rex and his partner, Detective Richard Moser, begin to investigate, they find that each of the victims had recently withdrawn a large sum of money from a bank.
Their search for suspects leads them to a retirement home, where they meet a group of elderly women who are all friends and had received the same inheritance from a recently deceased friend. The detectives begin to uncover secrets from the women's past, including a possible connection to a World War II-era Nazi.
As they dig deeper, they discover a sinister plot involving greed, revenge, and a lethal injection that was used to kill the victims. Rex proves to be an invaluable member of the team, using his incredible sense of smell to track down important clues and even saving the life of one of the elderly women.
With time running out, the team must work quickly to prevent the killer from striking again and bringing the case to a satisfying conclusion in the exciting finale.
