Ep 8. She Who Spins Fiction

Kotoko and Kuro are called upon to investigate a series of strange occurrences in a local bookstore. The store’s owner, Yamamoto, has been receiving threatening letters that seem to be written by a supernatural entity. Kotoko immediately recognizes the threat as being from a powerful yokai known as the “Spinner of Threads”. This Yokai is particularly dangerous as it can twist reality with its powers, making it difficult to know what is real and what isn’t.

As Kotoko and Kuro begin their investigation, they uncover that the books in the store are cursed and have been causing people to experience hallucinations and nightmares. They discover that the author behind the books had made a deal with the Spinner of Threads, which has resulted in their creation. After a close encounter with the Spinner of Threads, Kotoko and Kuro realize that the only way to defeat this evil Yokai is to find its anchor, which is the source of its power.

As they continue their investigation, they run into Saki, a girl who once had a romantic interest in Kuro. She reveals that she is the author who made a deal with the Spinner of Threads in order to gain success in her writing career. Saki is the only one who knows where the anchor is and is reluctant to reveal it. Kotoko uses her wit and charm to convince Saki to tell them where it is, telling her that the Yokai's influence is no longer worth it. Saki ultimately agrees to help Kotoko and Kuro, but not before testing Kuro's allegiance to her.

As they make their way to the anchor, Kotoko and Kuro are attacked by a manifestation of the Spinner of Threads. Kuro fights valiantly against the Yokai, but eventually succumbs to its powers. Kotoko is left alone to face the Yokai and destroy the anchor. She uses her cunning and intellect to outsmart the Yokai, which allows her to destroy the anchor and ultimately defeat the Spinner of Threads.

In the end, Kotoko, Kuro, and Saki all go their separate ways. Saki is relieved to be free of the Yokai's influence and is inspired to start fresh with her writing. Kuro and Kotoko have grown closer as allies and friends, with Kuro reflecting on his own choices and actions. As the episode comes to a close, Kotoko assures Kuro that he will always have someone to rely on, even if it is just her.
