In the show Instant Mom, Season 1 Episode 19 titled "Camp Fear," Stephanie Phillips juggles between being a mom, wife, businesswoman, and trying to look out for her family's well-being. She is a corporate party planner who has to balance between her work schedule and her family. Her husband, Charlie Phililps, is a in the Navy and frequently goes on missions away from home. Stephanie has two children, Gabby and James, whom she tries to look out for despite her busy schedule.
In this episode, Gabby and James are excited about going to summer camp. However, Stephanie becomes concerned when she meets the camp counselor, the over-enthusiastic Doug, who appears to be a little odd. Stephanie finds herself worrying excessively about her children's safety. Her sister-in-law, Maggie, tells her not to worry too much, but Stephanie just can't shake the feeling that something is not right.
Stephanie decides to do some investigative work and follows Doug around the camp. She finds out that Doug has a dark past and was once in jail for petty theft. She quickly becomes alarmed and tries to talk to Maggie about it. However, Maggie tells her that everyone makes mistakes and that Doug deserves a chance to prove himself. Stephanie is still not satisfied and decides to dig deeper into Doug's background.
Meanwhile, Gabby and James are enjoying their camp experience, forming new friendships, and participating in various activities. However, things start to take a concerning turn when James injures his foot and has to be taken to the medical cabin. Upon his return, James appears to be acting strange and Stephanie becomes even more worried about her son's safety.
Stephanie's worst fears are realized when she learns that Doug has been sneaking into the campers' cabins and stealing their belongings. She immediately takes action and alerts the camp director about Doug's behavior. The director confirms that Doug has violated camp rules and is dismissed from his job.
In the end, Gabby and James return home safely and are unaware of the turmoil that Stephanie had to go through to ensure their safety. Stephanie learns a valuable lesson about not jumping to conclusions based on someone's past and is grateful that her children had a fun and safe summer camp experience.
