In the second episode of Junjo Romantica season 1, titled "There's No Use Crying Over Spilt Milk", the viewer is thrown into the complicated world of the three couples that the series revolves around.

The first couple, consisting of Akihiko and Misaki, is the primary focus of this episode. Akihiko is a famous writer and Misaki is his younger, determined and somewhat naive lover. Misaki has a great admiration for Akihiko's work and looks forward to being a part of it one day, but her passion is put to the test when Akihiko harshly criticizes the work she put so much effort into.

Feeling hurt and humiliated, Misaki decides to give up writing and instead focuses on studying for his entrance exams, much to Akihiko's disappointment. Misaki's struggle to find his passion and identity sets the tone for an emotional episode, as it highlights the effects of criticism, especially when it comes from someone you admire.

Meanwhile, the second couple, Hiroki and Nowaki, share a brief but intense moment on screen in this episode. Hiroki, a professor who has been in love with his student, Akihiko's younger brother, for years, is approached by Nowaki, a man who has harbored feelings for him and has come to confess. Hiroki initially turns him down, but after reflecting on his past and his feelings for his unrequited love, he decides to give Nowaki a chance.

The third and final couple, consisting of Miyagi and Shinobu, make a brief appearance as they continue to deal with the consequences of their rocky start in their relationship. Shinobu, a student madly in love with his professor, Miyagi, has trouble controlling his emotions when it comes to their relationship. Despite their love for each other, Miyagi struggles to maintain appropriate boundaries with Shinobu and fears the consequences of his actions.

As the episode unfolds, viewers are given a glimpse into the complexity of each couple's relationships, as their individual struggles and challenges shape their lives and impact their partners. From the struggle to find one's passion to the difficulty of balancing love and professional relationships, Junjo Romantica season 1 episode 2 reminds us that love is rarely simple and straightforward.
