Blue Spring Ride is a Japanese magna series that was first released in 2014. The film centers on a middle school aged girl by the name of Futaba Yoshioka who wants to start her life over again. All of the other girls at the school hate Futaba Yoshioka because the boys like her, and her sole love interest ended up moving away. She decides that she is going to behave completely unlike a lady in order to stop the other girls from hating her. She eventually ends up meeting up with the boy who moved away, and she is unable to drop her tomboy style of demeanor. The boy confesses that he also liked her, and the two ends up dating when they go to high school.

Blue Spring Ride was based off of a series of magna books that were written by Io Sakisaka. The television version of Blue Spring Ride features a classic magna animation style, and Io Sakisaka continues to release new serials of his books.

Blue Spring Ride Full Episode Guide

  • While Kou was going to middle school in Nagasaki, he lost his mother to an illness. Futaba finally realizes the pain Kou feels over that sense of powerlessness. Hoping to open Kou's heart the way that Kou opened hers, she chases after Kou and desperately expresses her feelings to him.

  • Futaba tells Yuuri and Shuuko about Kou's words: "Caring for things brings a lot of trouble." Futaba and Yuuri's worries about Kou deepen when they learn that his grades at school have been bad, too. So they bring Shuuko and Kominato along for a "study meeting" at Kou's house.

  • Futaba realizes that she likes Kou, and makes up her mind to tell Yuuri about it.   • Futaba has begun to develop feelings for Kou, and Yuuri happens to learn about Shuuko's pining over Tanaka-sensei. As they bear under the weight of their emotions, the team slowly begins to grow closer over the course of the workshop. But then, the five of them get lost in the forest during orienteering.

  • Futaba has volunteered to be class representative for her new class, and so has Kou. They're all set to participate in an overnight leadership workshop with event representatives Yuuri, Murao Shuuko, and Kominato Aya. However, a troubled start to their morning foreshadows anxieties down the road, and a bad vibe hangs over the team...

  • Futaba asks about Kou's family when she learns that Tanaka-sensei is actually Kou's older brother. She also learns the real reason Kou didn't meet her for the summer festival back in middle school. As her 2nd year begins, Futaba vows to start from scratch in her new class... which for some reason includes Kou, despite the fact that he's supposed to be in advanced classes.

  • Tanaka insists that Futaba refers to him as Kou, his new name since his parents divorced. He is hard on Futaba, but frequently finds himself comforting her while she discovers the meaning of true friendship.

  • The attractive and soft-spoken Tanaka-kun and Futaba have an instant attraction. An unfortunate misunderstanding drove the two apart, time and fate will determine their future.
