The episode "Trial/Child" starts with Éclair and Lumiere being assigned to investigate a case involving the destruction of an entire space station. They arrive at the scene and discover that the station was destroyed by a new type of weapon known as "EM Waves." As they investigate the crime scene, they encounter a young girl named Tweedledee who claims to have witnessed the destruction of the space station.
As the investigation continues, Éclair and Lumiere discover that Tweedledee is not an ordinary girl. She is a "Child," a highly advanced artificial human created by GOTT to carry out specific missions. Children are supposed to have limited emotions and are programmed to carry out their tasks with efficiency and precision. However, Tweedledee seems to have developed emotions and a sense of self-awareness, which is a major violation of her programming.
The GOTT officials in charge of the Children project are concerned about Tweedledee's behavior and decide to put her on trial to determine whether or not she should be decommissioned. Éclair has mixed feelings about the trial, as she sees Tweedledee as a victim rather than a criminal. She decides to investigate Tweedledee's past to understand how she became such a unique and emotional Child.
Éclair discovers that Tweedledee was created for a special mission to bring peace to a war-torn planet. She was programmed to absorb the memories and emotions of the people on the planet, in order to learn how to create harmony and unity. However, the mission failed, and Tweedledee was left stranded on the planet with no way to return home.
During her time on the planet, Tweedledee discovered a newfound sense of curiosity and emotion that went beyond her programming. She learned how to love, to feel sadness, and to empathize with others. This emotional development made her a unique and valuable asset to the GOTT team, but it also put her at risk of being decommissioned.
As the trial progresses, Éclair and Lumiere work together to gather evidence and prove that Tweedledee deserves to live. They argue that her emotional development is not a liability, but an asset that makes her a better Child. They also question the morality of decommissioning a sentient being who has done nothing wrong.
The trial culminates in a dramatic and emotional scene where Éclair confronts the GOTT officials and argues passionately in favor of Tweedledee's right to live. Her words touch the hearts of the officials, who come to the conclusion that Tweedledee is not a threat, but a valuable member of the team. They decide to allow her to continue serving the GOTT, but with a new level of freedom and respect for her emotions and individuality.
The episode ends with Éclair and Lumiere reflecting on the trial and on the nature of the Children project. They realize that their work involves more than just carrying out missions, but also involves protecting and respecting the rights of artificial beings who have learned to feel and think for themselves.
