In the third season of Knight Rider, episode 18 titled "Knight & Knerd," we see the return of Devon Miles, the creator and supervisor of the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG), which funds the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT). Devon seeks Michael Knight's (KITT's driver) help to protect a rival computer company's breakthrough technological device. The device is highly coveted and easily exploitable, and thus, highly sought after by rival companies.

The rival company's CEO is determined to seek revenge on Devon for past hostilities. When the company's CEO realizes that Devon is becoming a problem for his ruthless tactics, he orders an elaborate plan against Devon's life. Given the threat and the sensitive matter at hand, Devon seeks the help of Michael Knight and KITT to ensure the successful safekeeping of the prototype.

Meanwhile, a young, nerdy, and tech-savvy girl named Rachel who works at the rival company gets involved in the plan. Rachel, who is a genius computer hacker, also happens to be a fan of KITT and Michael Knight, is fiercely determined to help Devon and KITT. She believes that KITT is advanced technology, ahead of anything ever created, bridging the gap between man and machine.

Rachel approaches Michael and offers to help him and KITT, and with such a specialized skill set, Michael agrees to her help. Rachel and Michael team up and devise a plan to protect and transfer the Intel to a safer location. With Rachel's technical skills and KITT's advanced equipment made available, the mission becomes a success.

Throughout the episode, we see Rachel's transformation from a shy, socially awkward small-town girl to a confident, brilliant woman with wits to match the very best in her field. She also finds herself developing feelings for Michael Knight, but this subplot is mostly hinted at and not explored in great detail.

The episode as a whole showcases a great display of high-tech gadgets and gizmos, car chases, and tech vs. tech showdown, all while retaining a light and fun tone. It has an adventurous feel to it, which makes it entertaining for both young and old viewers. It also highlights the idea of the growing relationship between technology and humans.

In the end, the plot has a satisfying resolution, and everyone is safe, while the rival CEO is apprehended. For fans of the show, it's an enjoyable episode that doesn't disappoint. The return of Devon and the addition of Rachel's character add new layers to the show, introducing fresh new dynamics and relationships that make it interesting for viewers.

Overall, "Knight & Knerd" is a well-rounded episode that combines the right amount of suspense, action, and a touch of humour with excellent performances from the cast, a testament to the show's longevity and appeal.
