In Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season 10 episode 3 titled "Swing," a couple is attacked and the wife is raped by a man in a mask while they were swing dancing. The wife, Melinda Warner, is also an assistant medical examiner, and she is hesitant to report the rape to the police because of her position. However, she ends up telling Benson and Stabler about the assault, and they begin their investigation into the case.
Their first lead is a man named Teddy Winnock who was kicked out of the dance club earlier that night for being too rough with his partner. When Benson and Stabler bring him in for questioning, he denies any involvement in the attack and claims to have gone home alone that night. However, they later discover that he had an accomplice and that they were both wearing masks during the attack.
Their attention then turns to a man named David Rountree who has a history of domestic violence and had recently been released from prison. Melinda recognizes him as someone she had previously seen in court, and he eventually confesses to being the masked man during the attack. He also reveals that his accomplice was an ex-girlfriend named Kelli. Benson and Stabler track down Kelli, who is a former stripper, and she reveals that she helped David plan the attack because she wanted revenge on the couple for ruining her life.
As the investigation continues, they discover that David and Kelli may have also been involved in another rape case four years ago. The victim in that case, Maria Grazie, was attacked in a similar manner but was not able to identify her attackers. Benson and Stabler bring Maria in to see if she can identify David and Kelli as her attackers, but she is unable to do so.
As the episode progresses, the detectives struggle to find concrete evidence to use against David and Kelli. Meanwhile, Melinda is faced with the difficult decision of whether or not to continue with the case, as she is afraid of the public scrutiny that would come with being a victim of rape and also because she feels responsible for putting her husband in danger by attending the swing club.
Towards the end of the episode, the detectives discover a crucial piece of evidence that allows them to finally arrest David and Kelli for their crimes. However, the episode ends with Melinda still struggling to come to terms with what happened to her and the impact it has had on her and her husband's lives.
"Swing" is a gripping and thought-provoking episode that delves into the complex emotions and challenges that victims of sexual assault face. It also highlights the difficult balance between seeking justice and protecting one's privacy and reputation. The episode's twists and turns keep the audience engaged and guessing until the very end.
