Andy Bassich, a survivalist who lives near the Yukon River, is seen fixing a power generator. Summer in Alaska only lasts for so long, and Andy has a long list of tasks to complete before the winter arrives. He has to stock up on foods and gear, while also ensuring that his cabin, equipment, and vehicles can withstand the extreme winter conditions. With no neighbors around, he has to rely on his own wits and expertise to stay safe.

Chip and Agnes Hailstone's son, Tinmiaq, join Bob and a team of Inupiaq hunters on a caribou hunt in the high mountains. The task of a caribou hunt is daunting and dangerous, and Tinmiaq works hard to prove himself worthy. The group's objective is to spot and shoot the caribou for meat, as well as collect the valuable pelts. The Inupiaq hunters' work is crucial in maintaining their cultural heritage, keeping their traditions and skills alive.

Finally, we also get a glimpse of Jesse Holmes, who lives in the remote area near the Koyukuk River. Jesse runs a dog-mushing operation, and his dogs are his livelihood. In this episode, Jesse is on a mission to repair a broken sled, crucial to his ability to travel during the winter months. He also mentions his love for the Alaskan wilderness and how it has made him a more self-sufficient and content person.
